Elon Musk announces the big Twitter 2.0 upgrade packed with direct audio and video calling feature, encrypted DM’s, and more.

Twitter 2.0

Elon Musk In his recent tweet revealed that Twitter 2.0 will allow users to reply to any message in the thread (not just most recent) and call people without having to share their phone number.

Elon Musk, the famous tech magnate, entrepreneur and CEO of Twitter, recently announced the introduction of exciting new features in Twitter 2.0. In a tweet on Tuesday, Musk unveiled that users would soon be able to make voice and video calls directly from their Twitter handle, providing a simple and secure way to connect with people globally without having to share personal phone numbers.

Twitter, the popular micro-blogging and social networking platform will now have a new feature that will allow users to make calls directly to their friends and family, which will bring it on par with other social networking giants such as Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta.

The CEO announced that users can now respond to any message in a DM thread—not just the most recent—and express their feelings with any emoji. In the past, users could only respond to the most recent message in a direct messaging thread and could only use certain emojis.

However, the level of encryption that will be offered on Twitter’s call feature is yet to be determined. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has recently stated that a form of encrypted direct messaging will be accessible on Twitter starting from Wednesday, but he did not specify whether the call feature will also be encrypted.

Release of Encrypted DMs V1.0

In recent years, as users have become increasingly concerned with privacy, encrypted messaging services have become more and more popular.

In January, Facebook’s parent company Meta announced that it was extending testing for its Messenger service’s default end-to-end encryption. End-to-end encryption has been a feature of WhatsApp, the other messaging service owned by Meta, for many years. Elon Musk in his latest tweet also announced the release of encrypted DMs V1.0 that as per him should happen tomorrow.

End-to-end encryption DM’s in Twitter will ensure that only the sender and receiver have access to the private information contained in messages sent via Twitter’s direct messaging feature. This implies that nobody will be able to intercept or access the private communications sent and received by users, not even Twitter or the tech billionaire Elon Musk. Simply simply, all of your communications will be kept entirely private and shielded from outside intrusion or tampering

Twitter 2.0 The Everything App

Twitter’s new call feature is expected to be a hit among users, who are always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to connect with one another on social media. With this feature, Twitter is sure to attract a larger user base and stay relevant in the highly competitive social networking market.

This innovative development is part of Musk’s ambitious plans for “Twitter 2.0 The Everything App,” which he hinted at in the previous year. The upgraded app is expected to offer a plethora of new features, such as long-form tweets, payments, and encrypted direct messaging (DMs), among others.

In other news, Twitter has also announced that it will begin a purging process by deleting and archiving accounts that have been inactive for a while. This move is aimed at reducing the number of inactive and spam accounts on the platform and improving the overall user experience. The purging process is set to begin this week and will be an ongoing process.

Twitter 2.0 is verstaile

The introduction of voice and video calls, long-form tweets, and encrypted DMs are however significant steps towards making Twitter more versatile and user-friendly. It is an exciting time for Twitter users as they can expect to enjoy a more enhanced and secure communication experience on the platform.

By introducing these new features, Twitter is poised to become a more dynamic platform. The capability to make private and secure calls and messages will undoubtedly make Twitter more attractive to people who are seeking alternative ways to connect with people at large without having to compromise on thrier security and personal information.
