Drawing from this pattern, we can cautiously speculate about the possibility of a PC port for FF16. However, to uncover the concrete details, we turn our attention to the statements made by the development team at Square Enix.

It’s too soon for PC release

Square Enix, the renowned game developer behind the Final Fantasy series, has not officially confirmed nor denied the release of FF16 for PC. As of now, the focus seems to be on the PlayStation 5 version, with no specific announcements regarding a PC release date. While this may disappoint PC players, it is important to remember that game development is a complex process that requires time and optimization to ensure a seamless experience across different platforms.

Will Final Fantasy 16 be available on PC?

The official reveal trailer for Final Fantasy 16, featured on IGN’s YouTube channel, made it clear that the game will also be released on PC. At the end of the trailer, a note indicated that the game would be available on PC, alongside its timed exclusivity on PlayStation 5. However, it’s worth noting that the exclusivity period is set to end on December 31, 2023.

In a statement on the Japanese PlayStation Blog, FF16 Producer Naoki Yoshida expressed his intention to release a PC version of the game at some point. This statement strongly suggests that a PC release is in the works.

The demand for Final Fantasy games on PC is evident. According to SteamSpy, an estimated one to two million Steam accounts currently own Final Fantasy 15, a significant portion of the overall ten million copies sold. This data underscores the importance of catering to the PC gaming community.

Considering all these factors, it is not a matter of “if” but “when” Final Fantasy 16 will be available on PC. The developers would be wise to embrace the PC platform, given the existing player base and the potential for further growth.

FF16 PC release date estimate

The eagerly awaited Final Fantasy 16 PC release is most likely to occur no earlier than November 2024. When compared to its predecessor, Final Fantasy 15, the game’s PC release occurred on March 6, 2018, 16 months after its November 29, 2016, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and Xbox One, respectively, debuts.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s PlayStation 4 release date for the first time was April 10, 2020, according to the game’s release schedule. On June 10, 2021, some 14 months later, the game was released on the PlayStation 5. On December 16, 2021, the PC version of the game was finally released after a delay of six months. The entire process, from the initial launch to the PC release, took around 18 months.

However, it is important to note that Final Fantasy 16 appears to be a more expansive and intricate game compared to its predecessor, FF15. Additionally, Naoki’s Creative Business Unit III designed a brand-new engine for the game, which to our knowledge has only been made for the PlayStation 5. These elements add to the difficulty of the task at hand, possibly pushing back the release of the PC version of the game.
