The 15inch MacBook Air to be equipped with M2 and M2 Pro chip.

Apple’s highly anticipated release of a new MacBook Air with a stunning 15-inch display is set to launch in the second quarter of 2023, as per the Taiwanese supply chain publication, DigiTimes. This new MacBook Air will likely be powered by the highly coveted M2 chip, which has already been equipped with the 13-inch model released last year. The Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that a new 15-inch MacBook will be equipped with M2 and M2 Pro chip options and could release in the second quarter of 2023 making it available as early as April. The 15-inch MacBook Air with a larger screen will potentially be pretty much similar to the earlier launched 13.6-inch M2 MacBook Air, with the same design language, color-ways, screen-technology, keyboard, trackpad, speaker system, and internal specifications.

The 13-inch Apple MacBook Air that was announced at WWDC event last year was recently updated with the M2 chip and became available in July 2022 at starting price of $1,199. This chip was manufactured based on TSMC’s second-generation 5nm process, and while it is viewed by some as a stopgap until the 3nm-based M3 chip is ready, it is still an impressive piece of technology.

Ross Young, the industry display analyst earlier shared a tweet saying that the new MacBook Air should be set to launch in “early April” given that display production is now underway. The larger screen size will be the largest ever for the MacBook Air, previously only available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. The DigiTimes report believes that in the second half of 2023, Apple may update the MacBook Air again with the highly anticipated M3 chip which is currently being mass-produced. While it may seem unusual for Apple to update the MacBook Air twice in such a short timeframe, the possibility still remains.

The cost of the new 15-inch MacBook Air is not known yet but it can potentially be more expensive if comes with features like Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E that the M2 MacBook Air currently does not have.

It’s safe to say that the release of a 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2 chip is going to be a game-changer. And with the possibility of an M3 update in the near future, the excitement is only going to build.
